Spiced Springtime Sugar Cookies
Cook time: 8 to 10 min per batch
Makes about 6 dozen
2 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar1 cup (2 Sticks) butter, softened
1 egg
2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Beat sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Refrigerate 2 hours or overnight until firm.
Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into shapes with your favorite shaped cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated 375 F oven 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on Baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely. Decorate cooled cookies with Colorful Cookie Glaze. Place on wire racks to dry.
Colorful Cookie Glaze:
Mix 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 3 1/2 tsp milk, 2 tsp light corn syrup, 1/4 tsp Pure vanilla extract and 3 to 4 drops Assorted food color until glaze is smooth.
